Sugaring
Hair removal can be stressful, expensive, time consuming, and, if you wax, painful. However, there’s a natural, less painful alternative to traditional waxing that delivers better results than both waxing and shaving.
Sugaring hair removal is an ancient Middle Eastern practice that uses an all-natural paste made from sugar, water, and lemon juice. It removes the hair from the root with results that can last up to four weeks.
There are no chemicals, fragrance, or coloring added. It’s also hypoallergenic, making it suitable for ultra-sensitive skin.
Where on your body can you get sugared?
Legs, arms, bikini area, lips, underarms — anywhere you'd like to remove hair as long as the hair is long enough to pull out.
What is the appropriate length?
Sugaring requires one-eighth inch of hair, about the length of a grain of rice. This is the length it typically grows five to seven days after shaving.
Why?
Sugaring allows hair to grow in slower and softer. If you start doing sugaring regularly, your hair will become finer and thinner, and, eventually, will be almost not visible.
Does it hurt?
During the hair removal process sugar removes hair without attaching to the skin. For this reason, sugaring is preferred over waxing. Although pain tolerance differs for everyone, sugaring experience is less painful than waxing.
How often should you get sugared?
Approximately in every 25 days. However, that can depend on your hair type. For women with thick and dark hair, it may be more often compared to those who have fine, light hair.
What else should you know before and after?
Because sugaring can heighten sensitivity for a short time after treatment, I recommend that you don't go tanning or sunbathing for 24–48 hours prior to your appointment. Avoid these activities for 24 hours after sugaring, too!
Come clean and dry - it's best that you come in for your sugaring without lotions, oils, or deodorants on your skin. Do not apply deodorant during 12 hours after armpit sugaring.
